Dr. McKellar will serve the community as a general orthopedic surgeon while focusing on primary and revision total joint surgery as well as the treatment of sports injuries and community fractures involving the upper and lower extremity. With his extensive experience in hip and knee joint replacement surgery and osteoporotic fracture care, he welcomes referrals of periprosthetic fractures (fractures around total joints). In addition, Dr. McKellar serves as Medical Director of the Joint Wellness Program at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Carrollton.
Dr. McKellar is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Medical Association.
He and his wife are multi-generation native Texans who were sweethearts at Plano High School. Dr. McKellar and his wife returned to Texas to be closer to their parents. They have two sons, one living in North Carolina and the other in California. In their spare time, they stay physically fit enjoying adventure travel and recreation with their children, grandchildren and friends.
